NEW DELHI: The Electronics and Information and communication technology (EICT) Academy in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has launched a two-weeks-online faculty development programme on Natural Language Processing in collaboration with EICT Academy, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur, IIT Roorkee, and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Jabalpur.

The programme will be conducted from February 7 to 18. Interested candidates can register till February 5 at the official link – ict.iitk.ac.in/nlp. Classes will be conducted from Monday to Friday.
While students or faculty will have to pay Rs 500, industrial academics will have to pay a fees of Rs 1,000. Fees for foreign academics is Rs 4,240.

The course is meant for graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, young lecturers and working professionals working in this domain.
The two-week session will cover some important topics such as Basic Text Processing, Spelling Correction, Language Modelling, POS tagging, Distributional Semantics, Topic Models, Entity Linking, Information Extraction, Text Summarization, Text Classification, Sentiment Analysis and Opinion Mining and Dialog Systems.

The course will be conducted by academic and industry personnel including Asif Ekbal, associate professor, IIT Patna; Sriparna Saha, associate professor, IIT Patna; Namita Mittal, associate professor, MNIT Jaipur; Atul Gupta, associate professor, IIITDM Jabalpur; Gayadhar Pradhan, associate professor, NIT Patna; Sudip Kumar Naskar, associate professor, Jadavpur University; Vivek Kumar Singh, professor, BHU; Abhay Alok, data science manager, Pagnom People Inc.; Naveen Saini, assistant professor, Endicott College of International Studies, Woosong University; and Jyoti Prakash Singh, asst professor, NIT Patna.

“EICT Academy IIT Kanpur is an initiative of IIT Kanpur and the Ministry of Electronics Information Technology, Government of India (MeitY) that aims to provide job-oriented industry-relevant courses on the latest technology to students and faculty. All Faculty Development Programmes are recognized as per the Career Advancement Scheme guidelines. Under its Winter Training Programme, this two-week-long program will carry certificates for the participants on the successful completion of the programme,” said an official statement from IIT Kanpur.
